The Varsity Cross Country team placed 5th in their race at the McQuaid Invitational. The A-1 Division had 66 schools represented and 53 scoring teams. The Red Raiders placed well among the competitive field that included teams from across New York State, Pennsylvania and Ontario, Canada.
Mike Stadler once again paced the Red Raiders finishing 21st in 16:19 over the 3-mile course. Ryan Borrello and Dom Davis were 2nd and 3rd for the team in 17:37 and 17:45. The trio of seniors was followed by sophomore Spencer Frangou in 17:51. Junior Nathan Klimtzak rounded out the scorers finishing in 18:27. Max Sturniolo (18:38), Tom Pivarunas (19:06) and Cam Bush (19:51) completed the varsity squad for the Red Raiders.
In the JV race Nate Powers and Kyle Roth were separated by less than a second (20:59.4 and 20:59.8 respectively). They were followed by Nathan Reichenberg in 21:45, Donnie Wittschack in 22:21 and Teddy Reid in 23:44.
The team begins league action on Wednesday 10/2 at 4:45 pm against Nichols at Como Lake Park in Lancaster.
