St. Francis Track & Field defeats St. Mary’s & Gow to open MMHSAA Season on April 9th

The St. Francis Track & Field team opened its 2025 MMHSAA season by defeating Gow School and St. Mary’s of Lancaster April 9th.  The cold but dry day was far from ideal for all those participating in the meet at St. Francis High School.  But numerous athletes began their season with solid performances Wednesday.  Jumper Kaiden Wrightwon both the long and triple jump while Spencer Frangou won the mile and 2 mile as the Red Raiders began their regular season.
Meet Summary
  • 4 x 800 of Aidan Wallace Isaac Snyder, Brayden Mahoney & Mike Stadler win the opening track on Wednesday running 9:22.
  • Kaiden Wright wins both the long and triple jump with efforts that qualify him for the All Catholic (19-9.75 & 42-1.5.  Nick Jauch improved his career best with an 18-3.75 effort along with Evan Newby-Mckinnie making his long jump debut with an effort of 18-4.5.
  • Colton Warner threw a career best 131-0 in Discus on Wednesday.  Tim McCann won the Shotput tossing a best throw of 37-5.75.  Tim also threw 110-4 to be 2nd best in the Discus.
  • Evan Newby-McKinnie debut in the High Jump was All Catholic worthy as he cleared 5-8 to win the High Jump. 
  • Mason Mitchell was 2nd best in the 100m running 11.8 in the event.  Kenny Litzinger (12.0), Shepard Snyder (12.1) and Sam Skalski (12.4) were notable in the event.
  • Spencer Frangou won the mile in a time of 4:56.6 with Mike Stadler & Brayden Mahoney backing Frangou in the mile
  • Mike Stadler won the 800m in a time of 2:11 with Brayden Mahoney and Aidan Wallace backing up the Stadler in the event.
  • Dalton Pelow ran a strong 400m Wednesday with a time of 53.2.  Nate Powers and Dom Insera backed up Pelow in the event.
  • Mason Mitchell ran a winning time 24.1 to win the 200m with Kenny Litzinger and Maximus Sturniolo running at or below qualifying mark for the event.
  • Frangou ran an impressive 2 mile winning the event in 10:30.  Tom Pivarunas placed 3rd overall in the event.
  • 4 x 400 relay of Thomas Reaska, Dom Insera, Shepard Snyder and Nate Powers won the event in a time of 3:53.2
  • 4 x 100 relay of Sam Skalski, Maximus Sturniolo, Dalton Pelow & Kaiden Wright won the event in a time of 47.7
 
St. Francis Track & Field travels to Attica High School to compete at the Alexander Trojan Invite Saturday April 12th starting at 10am.
